Exhibition Launch: ‘New Vision’

Following the opening of the brand new church building, Emmanuel Church saw the launch of the long awaited art exhibition ‘New Vision’. The exhibition comprises of a selection of 35 pieces of work loaned from the Methodist Modern Art Collection including those by Maggi Hambling, Graham Sutherland and Elisabeth Frink. The launch event was attended by dignitaries, members of the MMAC Management Committee and a selection of those who have provided indispensable support in bringing the exhibition and the new church building into fruition.

Talks were given by Curator, Pat Latham who encouraged viewers into the art of learning through observation by ‘Slow Looking’. While Professor Ann Sumner, Chair of the MMAC Management Committee shared some fascinating background into the history of the Art Collection and gave thanks for being a part of the opening celebrations and to what is probably the first time the Collection has been seen in the context of new church architecture.
