Our Services
All are invited to worship with us at Emmanuel Church. We are affiliated with the Inclusive Church network where we believe in celebration and affirmation of every person, without discrimination.
We have regular services at the following times:
1030am, every Sunday
630pm, every 1st Sunday of the month

Some expectations and questions answered:
Worship Style
You will find a diverse worship range in our services. Morning Worship tends to be a blend of traditional, modern and liturgical styles. Whereas Evening Worship tends to be a quieter, reflective service, with a variety of styles, such as Iona, Taizé, Healing & Holy Communion services. The services usually last about an hour and are led predominantly by our Methodist & URC ministers, but we regularly invite other ministers and local preachers to lead too.
Facilities for Children & Babies
On the first Sunday of the month, there is an All-Age Service, which is particularly suitable for younger ones, though all ages are invited to join us in the Sanctuary for any of our services. There is a well-equipped creche situated at the rear of the Sanctuary, where you can also listen and view the service. On the third Sunday of each month, children can attend Kids @ Emmanuel while the grown-ups worship in the Sanctuary.
Holy Communion
We share in the Holy Communion at least once a month in our morning services and in the majority of our evening services, all are welcome to participate. The sacraments will be brought to you in your seats, the bread is gluten-free, the wine is non-alcoholic. You can of course join in the service but decide not to take the Holy Communion if you prefer.
Where to Sit
You are welcome to sit wherever you like. Occasionally some seats are reserved for special services, but these will be highlighted. Morning Services are broadcast online, the camera is situated at the rear, centre of the Sanctuary, this finds the congregation occasionally in view of the camera. Please sit in the back three rows if you would prefer not to be seen on camera. Aisles are wide and seating can be moved quite simply to accommodate for wheelchairs, please speak with a steward on arrival, who will help secure a comfortable position for you.
Dress code
There is no code, please feel free to wear whatever you feel most comfortable in.
Money Collection
A collection is offered at all our services to support the ministry and mission of Emmanuel Church; occasionally we will make alternative collections for specific charities or causes. A collection plate is found at the entrance to the Sanctuary for this purpose. There are also alternative ways you can give to the church – Charitable Giving
Hymns
Hymn words are projected on to large screens, and Hymn books are also available on the pews. Large print hymn books are available, please request one from a steward as you enter the Sanctuary.
Hearing Loop
An induction loop system is installed in the Sanctuary, set your hearing aid to the T position.
Livestream and Recordings
Morning Worship on Sunday is live-streamed on our website and on YouTube. If the service includes Holy Communion, you can participate online too, simply prepare before the service a small piece of bread and some juice. All our Morning Worship services are also recorded and available to view later either on YouTube or our website. In addition, sermons are also recorded and available to listen to and download from our Sermon Podcast.
Fellowship
Following Morning Worship, you are warmly invited to stay for fellowship and refreshments with us, in the hall.
