Charitable Giving
At Emmanuel Church, giving takes many forms – It is a response to God’s generosity, and whether you can give time, money, expertise, prayer or encouragement you are giving not only to the church, but to God.
Prayer and Encouragement
One thing Emmanuel Church encourages everyone to give is prayer and encouragement for all God’s People – the Church.
We all need reminding from time to time of the hope that God offers for our daily lives. Likewise, we all need prayer; many of us struggle with finding the time or even how to pray, but in doing so, we will draw nearer to God and there is no regret in that. Please support us in these two invaluable ways if you can.
Church Membership
Being ‘received into membership’ means that you are welcomed into the Church where you will find a support network for you in your Christian life and a place where you can support others too.
It is essentially saying ‘I belong to and am committed to supporting Emmanuel Church’. Membership will enable you to take part in the life of the whole Church, including its decision-making bodies. If you would like to become a member or would like to know more, please have a word with the minister, who will be happy to advise you and guide you through the process.
Volunteering & Expertise
The majority of activities at Emmanuel Church are run by volunteers. Whether you would like to offer your expertise in a particular area or would like to serve on one or more of our many ministry teams, we would love to hear from you.
Training will be provided if necessary and all our volunteers who work with children, young people or vulnerable adults will be subject to DBS checks. There are many teams you could be involved in, some are on Sundays, some midweek and some ad-hoc. These are a few examples of ministry teams at Emmanuel Church that may be of interest to you:
- Little Wrens Toddler Group
- Messy Church
- Jenny Wren Nursery School
- Leadership Training
- Worship & Choir
- Refreshments
- Projection and Sound
- Local Preaching
- Readers & Prayers
If you have any questions or are interested in serving in some way, please contact the appropriate team leader or the Minister.
Financial Giving
Emmanuel Church is able to build on the mission and ministry of the church thanks to the generous monetary contributions of its donors. There are many ways to give money to Emmanuel Church:
Tax-Efficient Giving (Gift Aid)
Gift Aid makes a huge difference to all donations. If you pay UK Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax, Emmanuel Church can claim through the Government an additional 25% on your donation at no extra cost to you.
It does not matter by what means or how frequently you donate, we would ask you advise us in a one-off ‘Gift Aid Declaration‘. This can be declared on paper, online or verbally to the Treasurer.
