On Sunday 4th August a short act of worship was held outside the Upperton Road site for the new building. On Monday 5th August Sovereign Construction are starting their preparations for the demolition of the site and the foundations for the new church and community centre – this first phase taking about six months. Rev. Paul gave a short address giving thanks to God for the new beginnings God brings, and the people sang Marty Haugen’s great hymn ‘Let Us Build a House’. The words “Let us build a house where hands will reach beyond the wood and stone, to heal and strengthen, serve and teach, and live the Word they’ve known” seemed just right – and indeed, all will be welcomed in this place.
